Apple hosting Japanese New Year promotion with free Apple Store Gift Cards and limited-edition AirTags

Apple has announced that it will be hosting a two-day promotion to celebrate Japanese New Year, offering shoppers free Apple Store Gift Cards with select product purchases and special limited-edition AirTags featuring an engraving to honour the Year of the Rabbit.

On January 2 and January 3, the Japanese New Year promotion offers gift cards worth between ¥4,000 to ¥32,000 for purchases of the second-generation AirPods, Apple Watch, iPads, and Mac models, with the first 30,000 customers in Japan who purchase a new iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 12, or iPhone SE during the promo receiving a limited-edition AirTag with a rabid emoji to celebrate the New Year.

Last year, Apple hosted a similar promo, offering up to ¥24,000 worth of Apple Store Gift Cards to customers making eligible purchases during the event, plus giving away custom-engraved AirTags with a special emoji to celebrate the holiday.

The limited-edition AirTags work exactly the same as the regular models, although the custom engraving is unique and completely exclusive to the Japanese New Year promo, only available to customers in the country who purchase an iPhone during the New Year period.
