Apple temporarily suspends gambling ads from showing on App Store product pages following developer complaints

Apple recently expanded its App Store Search Ads service with new ad placements on the App Store, which now shows users a new “You Might Also Like” section on individual App Store listings to show ads for sponsored apps.

With the new App Store ad placements rolled out, developers have shared their complaints on Twitter about the type of apps that are being promoted and shown at the bottom of their App Store app listing, mainly relating to gambling apps that developers don’t want to have associated with their product.

In response to the complaints, Apple has shared a statement, via MacRumors, in which it says it has temporarily suspends gambling ads from showing on App Store product pages.

We have paused ads related to gambling and a few other categories on App Store product pages.

Developers were unhappy with having gambling apps displayed alongside their apps, with many seeing it as unethical of Apple to allow such apps to advertise on the App Store in the first place.
