As per the previous-generation iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, Apple is limiting 4K ProRes video recording on the new iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max to models with 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage configurations, leaving out the 128GB model which will not support 4K ProRes.
In the fine print of the Apple webpage, the iPhone maker notes that there are some limitations to the ProRes capture quality depending on which storage configuration a user chooses, with the lowest base 128GB model not supporting ProRes — an advanced video codec used widely as the final delivery format for commercials, feature films, and broadcasts, to offer higher colour fidelity and less compression.
Apple says iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max support ProRes video recording in the Camera app at 1080p 30 fps with the 128GB storage option, and up to 4K 30 fps with 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options.
