Apple promotes Apple Watch Series 8 in new video

Apple has unveiled the Apple Watch Series 8, featuring a new body temperature sensor, Crash Detection to detect when a user has been involved in a vehicle incident, an all-new low-power mode to offer up to 36 hours of battery performance, the same overall design as the previous Apple Watch Series 7, and more.

Available in-store beginning Friday, September 16, the Apple Watch Series 8 is available in both aluminum and stainless steel materials, with Apple offering Midnight, Starlight, Silver and (PRODUCT)RED case options for the aluminum models, and Graphite, Silver and Gold finishes for the stainless steel models.

Similarly to the Apple Watch Series 7, the new Apple Watch Series 8 features an always-on display with Apple’s Blood Oxygen app, ECG app, high and low heart rate notifications, Irregular rhythm notifications and cardio fitness notifications.

The new body temperature sensor on the Apple Watch Series 8 allows for improved cycle tracking with retrospective ovulation estimates to improve the reproductive health capabilities Apple offers within watchOS. iOS 16 and watchOS 9, all Cycle Tracking users can now receive a notification if their logged cycle history shows a possible deviation, such as irregular, infrequent, or prolonged periods, and persistent spotting.

Apple Watch Series 8 detect a severe car crash with Crash Detection. When the Apple Watch detects a severe car crash, the device will check in with the user and dial emergency services if they are unresponsive after a 10-second countdown.

Apple Watch Series 8 starts at $399 (US) and is available to pre-order beginning today. As per the previous generation Apple Watch Series 7, the new Apple Watch Series 8 is available in two sizes: 41mm and 45mm.
