Apple rumored to host spring Apple Event on March 8 for 5G iPhone SE, new iPad Air, and more

Apple is reportedly “targeting a date on or near March 8” to host its first Apple Event of the year to announce its rumored 5G iPhone SE, upgraded iPad Air with 5G and Center Stage camera, and possibly a new Mac with an Apple M-series chip, according to Bloomberg.

The report is the first to speculate on a date for Apple’s first special event of 2022, citing people familiar with the matter who say the spring event will kick off a “potentially record-setting year for product launches.”

Apple’s rumored March event will likely also see the release of iOS 15.4 which is currently in beta as well as the release of Apple’s spring lineup of iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad and AirTag accessories, with the update bringing new colors for the change in season.

With COVID-19 continuing to see high numbers across the US, Apple’s spring event is expected to be another digital keynote made with pre-recorded segments from different areas of the Cupertino campus.

Bloomberg reports that Apple is “planning a new Mac with Apple-designed chips” that “could also come as early as March,” however, it is unclear if the new machine will be included as part of the March event after display analyst Ross Young claimed earlier this week to no longer expect Apple’s rumored “iMac Pro” to be announced at the beginning of the year, citing supply challenges that could push the machine’s launch back until August or September.

Apple typically hosts events on Tuesdays, so the March 8 date seems plausible. Apple will likely confirm the event a week prior. Until then, we have to sit and eagerly wait.
