Apple Watch Series 7: Updated design, larger displays, and more

Apple has unveiled the Apple Watch Series 7, featuring larger displays, new finishes, enhanced durability, faster charging, and more.

Shown off alongside the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro and redesigned iPad mini at Apple’s “California streaming” keynote, the Apple Watch Series 7 lacks the long-rumored flat-edge redesign multiple reports had suggested would be coming with this year’s iteration. Instead, the wearable has softer, more rounded corners with a 20% larger screen area compared to the Apple Watch Series 6.

Available at some point later this year in new 41mm and 45mm sizes, the Apple Watch Series 7 introduces five new aluminium case finishes including Midnight, Starlight, Green, and a new Blue and (PRODUCT)RED, along with a range of new band colours and styles.

Apple says the users of the new Apple Watch will benefit from the same all-day 18-hour battery life as the Apple Watch Series 6, now complemented by 33 percent faster charging.

Like previous models, the Apple Watch Series 7 includes tools for health and wellness, including an electrical heart sensor and ECG app, and a Blood Oxygen sensor and app.

Apple touts that the Apple Watch Series 7 is the most durable Apple Watch ever, with a stronger, more crack-resistant front crystal. It is the first Apple Watch to have an IP6X certification for resistance to dust, and maintains a WR50 water resistance rating.

Pricing for the new Apple Watch Series 7 is yet to be confirmed.
