Apple could soon expand its Apple Watch ECG feature to Australia

Apple has received regulatory approval from Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration for Apple Watch’s irregular heart rhythm notifications feature, suggesting we could soon see Apple make its ECG app available to users in the country.

As reported by EFTM, the notifications have now officially been added to the database of approved Therapeutic Goods, confirming Apple’s interest in expanding the Apple Watch’s health features in Australia.

Apple has been slow in enabling Apple Watch’s ECG functionality around the world since it launched with the Apple Watch Series 4 in 2018, mainly down to each country requiring individual approval before the technology can be legally released.

To launch the ECG app in Australia, Apple still requires the main ECG function to be medically certified. There’s no telling when this will happen, but the approval does show the interest from the iPhone maker in continuing the rollout worldwide.
