Apple to launch redesigned iMac this year that looks similar to the Pro Display XDR, claims Bloomberg

Bloomberg has published a report claiming Apple will launch its long-awaited iMac redesign later this year, supposedly featuring a similar design to Apple’s high-end Pro Display XDR.

The next-generation iMac, which will mark the first major design refresh to the machine since 2012, is said to feature smaller bezels and no metal “chin area” at the front. The rear of the machine is said to be flat with two versions — codenamed J456 and J457 — that will replace the existing 21.5-inch and 27-inch models, the report claims, citing people with knowledge of the plans who asked not to be identified discussing unannounced products.

The report says the redesigned iMac will be “one of the biggest visual updates to any Apple product this year,” and as expected, Bloomberg says the new 2021 iMac will use Apple Silicon rather than Intel.

Additionally, Apple has again been rumored to be working on a new, smaller Mac Pro, with the report suggesting two new models are in development alongside a ‘cheaper’ external monitor.
