Apple offering second Apple News+ free month trial to past subscribers

Apple is offering another free trial of Apple News+ to some former subscribers of the service who have since canceled their paying subscriptions ahead of the launch of the rumored new “Audio Stories” extension arriving with iOS 13.6.

Apple News+ launched last March, offering unlimited access to premium magazines and pay-walled news stories across multiple categories like fashion, news, lifestyle, health, travel, food, and more through the News app available on iPhone, iPad and Mac.

As noted by 9to5Mac, previous subscribers of the service are now eligible to claim another free month’s trial in an effort to entice past users to rejoin the service following the high-profile pull out of The New York Times from the platform last month and numerous reports that suggest the service isn’t performing as well as Apple had hoped.

Tim Cook revealed in April that Apple News has 125 million monthly active users, marking an increase of roughly 25 million users since usage information was last shared at the beginning of the year.
