App-y Birthday: Apple was founded 44 years ago today

Happy Birthday, Apple! 44 years ago today, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak officially founded the Apple Computer Company.
Starting life in a garage in Los Altos and working its way up to become the world’s first trillion-dollar company in 2018, Apple has revolutionised personal technology with the introduction of the Macintosh, iPod, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.
Alongside Jobs and Woz, back on April 1, 1976, businessman Ronald Wayne joined the duo in founding Apple, although days after signing the contract that founded the company, he sold his 10% stake in the business for $800, which now would be valued at around $95 billion.
Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak met through a mutual friend. At the time, Jobs was working as a hardware and game developer for Atari, while Wozniak worked at HP. After socializing at the Menlo Park Homebrew Computer Club, where they cooperated with other manufacturers, they decided to build their first computer: the Apple I.
In 1985, Steve Wozniak subsequently retired from Apple, leaving Steve Jobs at the helm until 2011 when he lost a battle with pancreatic cancer that saw former Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook take over as the company’s CEO.
Today, we’re looking back on Apple’s history over the past 44 years and applauding them for their success and drive to continue to innovate.
