Apple closing all retail stores and offices in China due to coronavirus outbreak

Apple has announced it is closing all retail stores and offices in mainland China until February 9 based on the latest advice from health experts following the deadly coronavirus outbreak sweeping across the globe.

Within a statement to Bloomberg, Apple said “Out of an abundance of caution and based on the latest advice from leading health experts, we’re closing all our corporate offices, stores and contact centres in mainland China through February 9,” adding that the company will continue to monitor the situation.

The announcement follows after Apple CEO Tim Cook said the company is restricting employee travel to China amid the outbreak, and that three stores had been closed out of precaution.

Whilst the stores are closed, Apple will continue to accept and deliver orders placed online at Apple.com.
