ByTrain: The must-have app for UK rail passengers

UK train travel can be stressful. Last minute platform alterations, never-ending delays, unexplained cancellations and unexpected short formed services are what many of us face on a daily basis. Having to the minute live service information is key for making the daily commute manageable, and no app does it better than ByTrain.
Created by developer Alexander MacLeod, ByTrain is a must-have app for UK rail passengers. The free-to-use personalised service makes boarding, tracking and accessing everything about your journey easier than ever before, giving you access to the information you need, when you need it.
ByTrain: Live Trains
The incredibly useful Live Trains feature allows you too view the Departures and Arrivals boards for any desired station. Users can save stations as favourites, and view station details for any given location, showing a range of helpful information such as a station map, a list of available facilities, and even a daily passenger score paired with a ranking of how busy the station is compared to others across the UK rail network.
ByTrain shows to the minute updates for any chosen service. Users can choose a train and view its whereabouts on a map, showing the stations on the route, the scheduled departure times for all stops on the service, and any delays along the way. Additionally, ByTrain shows how many carriages will form the train, its operator and how many stops in total the train will make during the course of its entire journey.
Users can choose to receive push notifications to alert them either five, ten, fifteen or twenty minutes before any chosen service is scheduled to depart, and ByTrain can automatically sync journeys with your calendar alongside showing detailed explanations for delays and cancellations, and options to plan journeys based on preferences such as via stations, direct trains only and more.
ByTrain: Disruptions
Equally as useful as the Live Trains feature, the Disruptions tab gives you real-time information to help you better plan your journey. Users are presented with information relating to stations and rail operators, with warnings showing station-specific information such as when lifts are out of order, and when delays are expected.
Live operator-specific disruption information shows all known issues on the routes they serve, including line specific delays and across-the-board information, such as industrial action notices and reduced services.
ByTrain also makes it easy for users to claim for delay compensation, contact an operator for assistance with lost property and mobility, and much more with customer service details shown directly in the app.
The next major release of ByTrain: ByTrain 4.0 will include 100 new features, including a much requested all-new light colour theme, iCloud syncing, support for Apple’s new system-wide Dark Mode part of iOS 13, and much more. Additionally, ByTrain has shared that it plans to become the first train times app to support macOS, carrying the much loved mobile experience across to the desktop. – The Apple Post will share more about this closer to the launch.
