Apple beginning 10.2-inch iPad mass production this month, 16-inch MacBook Pro production scheduled for fourth quarter of 2019

Apple is reportedly preparing to begin mass production of an all-new 10.2-inch iPad later this month, with mass production of a rumored new 16-inch MacBook Pro expected to start during the fourth quarter of this year, according to a supply chain report from Taiwan.

The report, published by the Economic Daily News and relayed by Japanese blog Mac Otakara, claims Apple is employing Taiwanese manufacturer Radiant Opto-Electronics to exclusively produce backlight modules for the two new products, both which are expected to be released later this year.

The 10.2-inch iPad, dubbed the “iPad 7” will be the successor to the current low-cost 9.7-inch iPad. – We first heard reports of Apple planning a larger non-pro iPad earlier this year from so far reliable Twitter-based tipster CoinX, who was first to share the naming of the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR ahead of the launch of the devices last year, in addition to the 2018 iPad Pro being 5.9mm thick and a few minor details about other Apple products.

Little is known about the features of the 10.2-inch iPad, but it is believed the device will continue to use Touch ID rather than Face ID.

As of the 16-inch MacBook Pro, the new machine will reportedly feature a 3072×1920 resolution, compared to the 2880×1800 panel used on all 15-inch MacBook Pro models since 2012, and will include an LCD display manufactured by LG. – It had been rumored that the new MacBook Pro model would use an OLED display produced by Samsung, though more recent reports suggest the model will be LCD only.

Just like the new iPad, few details are known about Apple’s upcoming 16-inch MacBook Pro. Some hope the machine will include Face ID, whilst others hope for a full redesign.
