Thieves storm Apple Store in Liverpool, stealing 36 iPhone models from display

Police are searching for six men following a daylight robbery at Apple’s retail store at the Liverpool ONE shopping complex.

The men – who are all said to have been wearing black clothing – stormed into the store at around 09:45am this morning, reportedly shouting at customers to get out of the way while they snatched various products from display before fleeing the store.

A customer in the store at the time of the robbery told ITV News: “It all happened so quickly. They came in and barged people out the way and they were shouting in a different language at each other. They snatched the phones off the wires on the counters. Children were crying, they’ll be having nightmares about that tonight.”

The thieves, who are said to have fled the scene clenching iPhones to their chests, got away with 36 phones and a MacBook.

Chief Inspector Jay Crellin, from Merseyside Police said: “The men are believed to have made off in two separate directions, some towards John Lewis and some towards Costa Coffee (in the opposite direction). – “Someone must have seen these men running away from the scene and will most probably have heard the phones making a significant noise used to alert staff of a security issue so I am confident that witnesses will come forward, either members of the public or other staff members, to help us track down those responsible.

Police are working through CCTV of the store and shopping complex to identify the suspects.
