Apple charging $999 to purchase stand for new $4,999 Pro Display
Apple unveiled its long-expected — and very long-awaited — Mac Pro today during its WWDC conference, and alongside the flagship machine, Apple debuted an all-new Pro Display, priced at $4,999.
The 32-inch 6K display features a P3 wide color gamut and true 10-bit color support, up to 1600 nits of brightness and an astonishing 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio.
The display was accompanied by a stylish stainless steel stand, though Apple is charging customers an additional $999 to purchase the stand shown in all of the Mac Pro’s official marketing images.
Unsurprisingly, this has caused a stir amongst the community. Essentially, Apple is selling its $4,999 with no way to mount it out of the box unless users splash the cash and buy the Apple stand.
