Phillips Hue expected to release new HomeKit smart plug and filament bulbs in fall

Phillips Hue is preparing to add a new HomeKit-compatible smart plug and filament bulbs to its line of smart home products this fall, according to a report from French site iCulturewith the source sharing images and alleged pricing for the new accessories.

The report suggests Phillips Hue is looking to rival plugs such as Eve Energy that plug directly into a wall power socket and allow a user to enable or disable power flow through an app on their smart phone. – Eve Energy allows users to set power schedules, and even monitor power consumption and projected running costs, and presumably Phillips will add similar functionality with its own smart plug.

In addition to the smart plug, Phillips is rumored to be releasing new filament smart bulbs, a revised GU10 light, lights for mirror adornments, and a design update to the Philips Hue Go.

The report suggests the smart plug will be available across Europe and the United States, priced at $25 and €29/£29 respectively. – So far, it’s unclear whether the plug will require the Philips Hue hub to function, or if it will be a full-blown independent HomeKit accessory.

An official release date for the accessories hasn’t been shared, though we expect them to arrive any time from September onwards.
