Apple to close Texture on May 28 following launch of Apple News+

Apple has announced that Texture, the digital magazine subscription service it purchased last year, will be closing on May 28th following the launch of Apple News+ with iOS 12.2 in the United States and Canada earlier this week.

The closure was announced online with the title “Goodbye, Texture. Hello, Apple News+.”, with Apple inviting customers to subscribe to a months free trial of the service via the News app on iOS or macOS.

Until now Texture has been available on both iOS and Android, however the migration across to Apple News+ will mean all current Android users subscribed to the service will simply see their subscription terminated and will be left to find an alternative pay-monthly magazine subscription company to use.

Apple News+ is priced at $9.99 per month in the United States, the same price as Texture, and is also available for $12.99 per month in Canada.
