Apple suppliers ‘gearing up for mass production’ of updated AirPods and iPad

Apple suppliers are reportedly ‘gearing up for mass production’ of updated iPad and AirPods models, according to Taiwanese site DigiTimes.

The report strengthens a flurry of previous claims from supply chain sources that Apple is planning to debut new AirPods and iPads shortly after its recently announced ‘It’s Show Time’ media event on Monday, March 25 at the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park.

According to the source, suppliers are now swinging into action ahead of the reveal of the new hardware.

Flexible PCB firms Flexium Interconnect and Zhen Ding Technology are gearing up for mass production for Apple’s next-generation iPad devices, while Compeq Manufacturing and Unitech PCB supply rigid-flex boards for the forthcoming AirPods, according to industry sources.

The event at the end of March is expected to be focused solely on software and services, with new hardware launching separately either later that day via an update to Apple.com, or later that week on Friday, March 29th.

Alongside the upgraded AirPods, entry-level iPad and updated iPad mini, Apple is also said to be finally releasing AirPower, it’s long-awaited wireless charging mat, later this month too, although the report doesn’t mention anything about AirPower production.
