Rumors claim Apple planning new red iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max for launch this month

Apple is supposedly planning to expand the iPhone XS lineup to include a new red iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max later this month according to a sketchy Chinese media report on the social media site Weibo, via iGeneration.

The news is said to have come from factory workers who heard of the plans yesterday and presumably will begin production of the new red colored version of the two devices immediately.

Despite the fact Apple has released red colored iPhone models around this time of year over the past couple of years, such as the PRODUCT(RED) iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus last year, the lack of evidence from the supply chain makes us skeptical, especially given that Apple already sells a red iPhone XR which has been available since launch.

The Chinese ‘leaker’ claims the new color is being introduced in an effort to boost weak iPhone sales, especially in China. The claim points out that the new color may be called ‘China Red’ rather than PRODUCT(RED) which all other red iPhone models have been called.
