Apple replacing some broken first-generation Apple Watch models with upgraded Apple Watch Series 2

Due to a shortage of parts for the 42mm first-generation Apple Watch and Apple Watch Series 1, Apple will temporarily offer some customers with broken wearables a free upgrade to the 42mm Apple Watch Series 2.

The news was shared within an internal document distributed to Apple Authorized Service Providers on Tuesday, with the company supposedly offering Apple Watch Series 2 substitutes starting February through April, reports MacRumors.

Apple’s documentation doesn’t specify whether substitutes will only be offered to specific Apple Watch models, such as aluminum, stainless steel, or other finishes, nor does the memo reveal what part/Apple Watch component is in short supply and causing the issue.

Customers with broken Apple Watch models should book an appointment at their local Apple Store or official Apple Authorized Service Provider.
