When it comes to concepts and early visualizations of future iPhone models, Ben Geskin is the go-to guy. In his latest concept, the Latvian based designer shows how Apple could reduce the size of the notch by 33% on its future iPhone models by relocating the front facing built-in stereo speaker and microphone.
As shown in the image above, Geskin’s visualization shows how Apple could – and should – only use the notch to house the TrueDepth Camera system that comprises of a regular front facing camera, dot projector, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, flood illuminator and infrared camera to offer the flagship modern iPhone features introduced with the iPhone X, including Face ID, Animoji and more, and move the built-in stereo speaker and microphone to the top of the bezel.
By moving the speaker and microphone it would allow Apple to dramatically reduce the width of the notch, something many iPhone users have had a love–hate relationship with since the iPhone X was introduced in 2017.
Apple will most certainly be looking to reduce the size of the notch on future iPhone models, and Geskin’s visualization is one of the first practical and realistic ways the company could do so.
