With the public launch of watchOS 5 nearing, a developer using a beta version of the software has discovered that Apple Watch’s Pride rainbow face has been intentionally blocked from showing in Russia, a country that has banned the so-called “propaganda” of homosexuality.
According to developer Guilherme Rambo, the rainbow Apple Watch Pride face “is hardcoded to not show up if the paired iPhone is using the Russian locale,” meaning whenever an iPhone connected to an Apple Watch is used in Russia, watchOS 5 will automatically hide the LGBT face from showing.
