Apple pulls watchOS 5 beta over reports of bricked devices

Just two days after the smartwatch’s new software was announced, Apple has removed the watchOS 5 Beta 1 after receiving reports of bricked devices.

According to a MacRumors forum, many users demonstrated their concerns while installing the software onto their Apple Watches. Many users reported freezes during the installation phase, particularly on Apple Watch Series 2 models.

Developers attempting to download a copy of the software were today met with a message stating that the software is currently unavailable and that the company is investigating possible issues. With this move here, it’s obvious that the issues are more widespread than the Cupertino company would prefer.

Seed 1 of watchOS 5 is temporarily unavailable. We are investigating an issue that occurs while updating. If you’ve experienced any issues, please contact AppleCare.

There’s no mention as to when or if watchOS 5 Beta 1 will return to the developer portal.
