New iPhone SE reportedly launching in May, featuring Touch ID and A10 Fusion

A speaker at the Global Sources Mobile Electronics trade show in Hong Kong has further fuelled reports of an ‘iPhone SE 2’, claiming the device will be launching as soon as May without a headphone jack, featuring no Touch ID and Apple’s A10 Fusion chip.

It’s believed the new ‘iPhone SE 2’ will feature the same four-inch display and physical size as the current iPhone SE, however the device could support 2GB of RAM, a metal back and frame, available with 32GB or 128GB of storage.

The new report by Japanese website Mac Otakara is the second source this week to claim Apple is preparing for the imminent launch of a second generation iPhone SE. – On Wednesday regulatory filings submitted to the Eurasian Economic Commission uncovered new iPhone model numbers A1920, A1921, A1984, A2097, A2098, A2099, A2101, A2103, A2014, A2015, and A2016 have been approved for sale in  a number of countries including Russia and Armenia.

Regulatory filings are a must for new devices hitting the market, and the EEC has 100 percent accuracy in providing model information before the devices are officially released. – The launch of the new ‘iPhone SE 2’ would come a month ahead of Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June.
