New 6.1-inch LCD iPhone to be priced as low as $550

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has a decent track-record when it comes to Apple, has released a new investor note in which he claims the company’s rumored low-cost 6.1-inch LCD iPhone could be priced as low as $550 (£390.00).

Within the note Kuo suggests the new low-cost device could feature support for dual-SIM technology, with the handset launching in in two models: one with a standard single SIM setup and another with dual SIM dual standby, which could mean having two physical SIM card slots and no eSIM support.

It’s possible Apple could release the new 6.1-inch LCD iPhone before their main iPhone event in September, with new regulatory filings discovered yesterday showing a flurry of new handsets destined to ship with a version of iOS 11 have been approved for immediate sale.

The investor note suggests Apple could sell between 100 million and 120 million units between the third quarter of 2018 and the third quarter of 2019.

The low-cost 6.1-inch iPhone with LCD display will apparently be available in a selection of metal back finishes unlike the iPhone X which is only available in Space Gray or Silver.
