Following the public release of iOS 11.3 last week users have been reporting a mysterious Messages in iCloud error that appears at the bottom of the iOS Messages application, despite the fact the feature hasn’t officially been released to the public.
The warning states ‘Messages in iCloud is currently disabled’, appearing on a number of devices running iOS 11.3. – Users are given the option to ‘Repair Account’, however when pressed nothing appears to happen and the message continues to show.
Users have taken to the Apple Support handle on Twitter, and the official Apple Community forum to report the bug, however so far Apple hasn’t commented on the findings.
Messages in iCloud was most recently released to developers and public beta testers as part of the first iOS 11.4 beta release earlier in the week. – Messages in iCloud was first previewed at WWDC 2017, a feature that when activated will synchronize a user’s Messages between their devices, freeing up valuable storage space by keeping old messages/conversations stored securely in the cloud.
Users report that after closing the Messages app the error message disappears, and that the warning doesn’t effect sending or receiving iMessages.
