Apple releases iOS 11.1 with new emoji, 3D Touch multitasking fix & more

iOS 11.1

Apple has today released iOS 11.1 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users, bringing a range of new features including new emoji, with more emotive smiley faces, gender-neutral characters, clothing options, food types, animals, mythical creatures and more as well as improvements to the overall user experience.

iOS 11.1 addresses a serious vulnerability in the WPA2 Wi-Fi standard that protects many modern Wi-Fi networks. Using a key reinstallation attack or “KRACK,” attackers can exploit weaknesses in the WPA2 protocol to decrypt network traffic to sniff out sensitive information.

iOS 11.1 also brings a number of improvements to the mobile operating system, including the 3D Touch App Switcher gesture that has been missing from iOS 11 since its release, the feature that allows iPhone users to press down on the left corner of their display to access the App Switcher.
