Apple launches a new, free Smart Keyboard three-year service policy for both the 9.7-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro accessory

According to an internal memo distributed to company retail stores and authorised service providers last week, Apple appears to be launching a new Smart Keyboard three-year service policy for both the 9.7-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro accessory after the company determined that some Smart Keyboards may experience “functional issues” during use, such as the Smart Connector not working or certain keys sticking, repeating, or not responding.

As discovered by Mac Rumours, Apple states that they shall service any qualifying Smart Keyboard for free of charge within three years of the date it was originally purchased, something that can be validated using either a paper or digital receipt.

Back in February a patent filed with the US Patent & Trademark Office showed Apple could be considering an updated ‘Smart Keyboard 2’ to launch alongside an updated iPad Pro this year, with the new accessory offering a built-in share button, Emoji key and Siri trigger.

Apple’s current Smart Keyboard was launched in November 2015, with becoming available in alternative keyboard formats such as Spanish, Italian, British English, Dutch and Arabic in August 2016.
