Apple’s adoption statistics suggest iOS 10 is installed on 3 out of 4 compatible iOS devices

According to adoption statistics published by Apple on their official usage statistics webpage, 76 percent of compatible iOS devices, averaging to 3 out of 4 users, are running iOS 10, with 18% of users still running iOS 9 and another 6% using iOS 8 and below.

The figures for iOS 10 adoption is up 13% since the webpage was last updated in November, with Apple previously stating that iOS 10 has had the highest adoption rate ever of any iOS release. While data for individual dates and periods aren’t published, it’s presumed that the festive period saw a spike in users and late updaters.

Apple’s latest iOS release was iOS 10.2 which brought an array of 100 new and improved emoji characters as well as bringing a whole host of new features to the iPhone and iPad such as a new ‘Celebration’ iMessage screen effect, Preserve Camera setting, a headphone icon in the status bar for Bluetooth audio devices, an SOS feature similar to the one currently included within watchOS, a swap from the old Videos app to Apple’s new TV application and much more
