Apple TV subscribers in the United States have been given another large batch of classic movies to stream at no extra cost in November, but the same 20-film lineup is not guaranteed elsewhere.
As spotted by 9to5Mac, Apple has added 20 licensed movies for U.S. subscribers this month, including Interstellar, Pulp Fiction, Forrest Gump, Arrival, Clueless, Prisoners, and Dead Poets Society.
The titles are available through Apple TV at no additional cost beyond a subscription and are expected to remain for a limited time, with most likely disappearing when Apple rotates the collection again.
No. Apple has offered similar “Great Movies Available Now on Apple TV” collections outside the United States, including in Canada and the United Kingdom, but regional licensing means the selection can be significantly different.
When Apple first expanded the promotion in August, U.S. subscribers received 19 licensed movies while UK subscribers saw only six. Canada also received a separate selection. That means the promotion itself is not U.S.-exclusive, but American subscribers have so far tended to receive a much larger catalog.
For November, the 20-title list reported by 9to5Mac is confirmed for the United States. Apple has not published a global list showing that every one of those films is included in other countries, and 9to5Mac notes that availability varies around the world.
The regional difference comes down to licensing. Unlike Apple Originals, which Apple controls globally, older studio movies can be subject to separate rights agreements in individual markets.
The monthly additions represent a notable shift for Apple TV, which spent most of its first seven years focused almost entirely on original programming rather than carrying a large licensed back catalog.
Apple is also preparing to launch its new fourth-generation Apple TV 4K on November 13, bringing Siri AI, upgraded smart-home features, and support for four-HomePod surround sound.
