Apple is reportedly considering making a future iPhone Duo slightly larger, with the foldable’s inner display potentially growing from 7.6 inches to somewhere around 7.9 to 8.1 inches.
The possibility was mentioned by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman on a new episode of his Power On podcast. According to MacRumors, Gurman said he has heard Apple is “looking at” the idea of increasing the size of a future iPhone Duo’s inner display by roughly half an inch.
The current iPhone Duo uses a 5.4-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch folding inner display. The Apple Post’s size comparison shows how the existing model already moves into small-tablet territory when unfolded, while remaining much more compact when closed.
Gurman does not appear to be describing a separate larger model. He specifically suggested that Apple’s consideration is for a future version of the regular iPhone Duo, rather than a new “iPhone Duo Max.” That makes the latest report different from earlier speculation that Apple could eventually expand Duo into a wider family with a dedicated Max model.
Any change remains far from confirmed. Gurman described the idea as something Apple is currently looking at, rather than a finalized product decision, and Apple routinely prototypes different sizes and configurations before settling on future hardware.
The report arrives as attention is already turning to what Apple could change in its second-generation foldable. Recent reporting suggests iPhone Duo 2 prototypes are also testing under-display Face ID, although that feature is likewise not guaranteed to reach the final product.
For now, Apple’s first iPhone Duo launches with a 5.4-inch outer display and 7.6-inch inner display, starting at $1,999 in the United States and £1,999 in the UK.
