Apple’s “Welcome home” product launch takes place on Tuesday, October 13, with the company’s New York media experience beginning at 9 a.m. Eastern Time.
That time is confirmed for the in-person Apple Experience in Tribeca, but there is an important distinction for anyone planning to follow the announcements online: Apple has not said exactly how the new products will be revealed, or whether a public presentation will begin at the same time.
Apple marketing chief Greg Joswiak teased the October 13 launch with the “Welcome home” message, while invited journalists and creators have been told to arrive in New York for 9 a.m. ET.
The 9 a.m. ET start for Apple’s New York media experience works out to the following times around the world:
Unlike a typical Apple keynote, the company has not confirmed a livestream or a full prerecorded presentation for October 13. The launch is also being described as an Apple Experience rather than a conventional Apple Event.
That leaves several possibilities. Apple could publish a series of Newsroom announcements, release shorter product videos, unveil the products privately in New York before making them public online, or combine several of those approaches.
The 9 a.m. ET time should therefore be treated as the confirmed start of the New York experience, not a guarantee that viewers around the world will see a keynote or product reveal begin at exactly that moment.
Apple is expected to focus on new smart home hardware, with The Apple Post’s full preview pointing to HomeView, a second-generation HomePod mini and a new Apple TV 4K as the headline products.
The new HomeView smart home hub is expected to be the centerpiece of the launch, with recent reports suggesting Apple will use the HomeView name for the display-equipped device.
