Apple October 13 event: What is confirmed and what is still a rumor

Apple’s “Welcome home” event is almost here, but there is a distinction between what the company has officially announced and what reports suggest it plans to unveil on October 13.

Apple has confirmed the date and the home-focused tagline. Invitations have also been sent for a New York press experience beginning at 9 a.m. Eastern Time, or 2 p.m. in the UK. That time does not necessarily indicate when a public keynote will start.

Apple has not confirmed whether it will livestream a presentation or introduce products through a shorter video and press releases.

On the rumor side, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has consistently pointed to three products: a new smart home hub, a second-generation HomePod mini and a refreshed Apple TV 4K. None has been formally announced for the event.

The hub, often called HomePad in reports, is expected to feature a small touchscreen, household controls and a new interface built around Siri AI. The HomePad name itself remains unofficial.

Updated HomePod mini and Apple TV models are expected to feature newer hardware and closer integration with Apple’s home platform. Their specifications, prices and release dates remain unconfirmed.

Other Apple products rumored for later this year, including redesigned Macs and iPads, have not been confirmed for this home-focused event.

The Apple Post has a wider preview of the expected announcements, including the three rumored headline devices.

The clearest expectation is a home-centered launch. Exactly what Apple will unveil, and when customers can buy it, will only become clear when the company makes its announcements.
