Should you buy a HomePod mini now or wait for Apple’s October 13 event?

Anyone considering buying a HomePod mini has a compelling reason to wait a few days: Apple is holding a “Welcome home” event on October 13, and a replacement for its compact smart speaker is widely expected.

Apple has not confirmed a new HomePod mini, but Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has repeatedly identified it as one of three products planned for the home-focused launch, alongside a new Apple TV and a smart home hub with a display.

The existing HomePod mini has gone years without a major hardware refresh. That makes the prospect of an updated model especially relevant to customers who want longer-term software support and the latest Siri capabilities.

Reports point to newer internal hardware and a greater focus on Siri AI. Apple has introduced a more conversational version of Siri, but it has not detailed which capabilities the rumored speaker will support.

A new model could also change the value of the current HomePod mini. Apple could discount the existing version, discontinue it or replace it at a similar price, but none of those outcomes is confirmed.

For buyers who do not need a speaker immediately, waiting until October 13 reduces uncertainty. Even if the rumored update does not arrive, Apple’s event should clarify its near-term direction for home hardware.

The Apple Post previously reported on the expected second-generation HomePod mini, including its potential upgrades.

With the event only days away, holding off is the lower-risk choice for most buyers unless they need a HomePod mini right now.
