Apple has released iOS 27.0.1 for iPhone, delivering the promised fix for a Face ID bug affecting some iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max users alongside fixes for camera and touchscreen issues.
The update arrives two weeks after iOS 27 was released publicly and is the first point update to Apple’s latest iPhone operating system.
According to Apple’s release notes, iOS 27.0.1 fixes an issue that could cause iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max to unexpectedly restart when Face ID fails to authenticate.
As The Apple Post reported last week, some iPhone 18 Pro owners had experienced Face ID failures when unlocking apps or setting up facial recognition, with affected devices sometimes freezing before restarting.
Other users reported seeing a “Face ID is Not Available” message or experiencing problems with the Require Attention for Face ID setting.
Apple confirmed at the time that the problem could be addressed through a software update, and iOS 27.0.1 now delivers that fix.
The update also addresses a camera issue affecting a small number of iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max devices.
Apple says a color artifact could appear in photos captured using the 2x camera under certain lighting conditions when shooting at f/1.48. That problem has now been fixed.
A third fix addresses an issue that could cause the iPhone touchscreen to become unresponsive when Notification Center and Control Center were opened simultaneously.
Apple hasn’t announced any major new features as part of iOS 27.0.1, with the release focused on correcting problems discovered following the launch of iOS 27 and Apple’s latest iPhones.
iOS 27 itself launched on September 14 with Siri AI, performance improvements, refinements to Liquid Glass and a range of updates across Apple’s built-in apps.
iPhone users can install iOS 27.0.1 by opening Settings, selecting General, and tapping Software Update.
