Square adds Apple Business integration for managing Apple Maps listings

Square has announced a new integration with Apple Business, allowing businesses to manage and automatically synchronize their Apple Maps information directly through the Square Dashboard.

The integration allows Square sellers to connect individual business locations with Apple Business, reducing the need to separately update information across the two platforms.

Once connected, important business information including opening hours, addresses and phone numbers can automatically synchronize with Apple. Changes made by businesses can then appear across Apple Maps, Siri AI, Apple Wallet and other Apple apps and services.

Businesses can also manage their branding through the integration, including adding a logo that appears on their Apple Maps place card.

Square sellers can add actions to their listings including Menu, Order, Pickup, Delivery, Book and Schedule Appointment, allowing customers to perform common tasks directly from the business’s Apple Maps place card.

The integration is particularly useful for businesses operating multiple locations, where keeping opening hours and other information consistent across different online services can become more difficult.

Square says sellers can connect their locations by opening their Square Dashboard and navigating to Account & Settings > Business Information > Locations, before selecting a location and connecting it with Apple Business.

The integration follows Apple’s launch of Apple Business earlier this year, which combined several of Apple’s existing tools for companies into a single platform.

Apple Business replaced Apple Business Connect, Apple Business Essentials and Apple Business Manager when it launched in April, bringing together device management, business email and calendar services, business listings and tools for reaching customers.

Businesses can use Apple Business to control how their locations and brands appear across services including Maps, Wallet, Mail and Siri. It also provides place card customization, location insights and the ability to add actions that direct customers to websites and apps.

Apple has increasingly expanded the commercial capabilities of Maps this year, including the introduction of Ads on Maps for businesses in the United States and Canada.

The new Square integration gives businesses already using the company’s platform another way to keep their Apple presence current without having to manage the same information independently through Apple Business.
