Apple has already launched iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, but the standard iPhone 18 is still months away, with multiple reports pointing to a spring 2027 release.
The delayed launch is part of Apple’s rumored new split iPhone strategy, separating premium models in the fall from more mainstream devices in spring. If the reports are accurate, iPhone 18 will arrive alongside iPhone 18e and iPhone Air 2.
Apple has not announced iPhone 18 or confirmed its release date, so specifications remain subject to change. Here is what the reporting currently suggests.
iPhone 18 release date
iPhone 18 is widely expected in spring 2027. Supply-chain comments have added weight to reports of a first-quarter launch, making the opening months of the year the most credible window currently available.
The Apple Post previously detailed Apple’s expected split-release strategy, which explains why the standard model was absent when iPhone 18 Pro arrived in September.
Display and design
Reports suggest iPhone 18 will retain a 6.3-inch display and broadly familiar design. A smaller Dynamic Island is rumored, potentially reducing the amount of display space occupied by the sensor area.
More dramatic under-display Face ID technology has generally been associated with future premium iPhones rather than the standard iPhone 18, so expectations for a major redesign should remain restrained.
A20 chip and memory
iPhone 18 is expected to use Apple’s A20 chip, built using a new 2-nanometer manufacturing process. That should bring the usual performance and efficiency improvements while providing more headroom for Apple Intelligence.
Some rumors claim 9GB of RAM, while other reports have pointed to different memory configurations. The exact figure remains uncertain and should not yet be treated as settled.
Cameras
The standard model is expected to continue using two rear cameras. Rumors have suggested a 48-megapixel Main and 48-megapixel Ultra Wide system, but detailed camera specifications remain speculative this far ahead of release.
Alleged iPhone 18 packaging has already leaked, apparently showing the familiar vertically arranged dual-camera layout. The images have not been independently authenticated.
Apple C2 modem
Apple’s second-generation C2 modem has been linked to the spring lineup. It would continue Apple’s gradual move away from Qualcomm cellular hardware, although regional modem differences remain possible.
Price
Online speculation has placed iPhone 18 around the $799 to $899 range, but there is not enough reliable evidence to treat either figure as Apple’s planned price.
Cost is particularly interesting because Apple has reportedly looked at lowering iPhone 18 manufacturing costs by sharing more components and processes with iPhone 18e.
For now, spring 2027 is much better supported than any specific launch date or price. Those details should become clearer as production gets closer.
