iOS 27 is Apple’s next major software update for iPhone, introducing a range of new features, improvements and changes across the operating system while maintaining support for all iPhone models compatible with iOS 26.
Before installing a major iOS update, it is worth making sure your iPhone has a recent backup and enough free storage space for the download and installation. Keeping the iPhone connected to power can also prevent the update being interrupted.
You do not need to erase your iPhone to install iOS 27. The update is installed through the Software Update section of Settings and keeps your compatible apps, photos, messages and other data in place.
How to download and install iOS 27
- Back up your iPhone using iCloud or a computer.
- Connect the iPhone to Wi-Fi and make sure it has sufficient battery power, or connect it to a charger.
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap General.
- Select Software Update.
- When iOS 27 is offered, tap the option to download and install or update now.
- Follow the on-screen prompts and allow the iPhone to restart while the update is installed.
If iOS 27 does not appear, check that your iPhone is connected to the internet, has enough available storage and is compatible with the update. Software Update will show the latest version available for your device.
