Apple delays some iOS 27 features ahead of Monday’s release

Apple has delayed two features planned for iOS 27, meaning they will no longer be available when the software update is released on Monday.

The delayed features include intelligent suggestions in Messages and a new Passwords capability designed to automatically fix compromised passwords. Both had been available during the iOS 27 beta cycle but are now expected to arrive in a future software update.

Apple has updated its software information to reflect the change ahead of the public launch. The delays also affect iPadOS 27 and macOS 27 Golden Gate, where the same features had been planned.

In Messages, Apple Intelligence is designed to recognize requests and other useful information within conversations and surface relevant one-tap actions. For example, if someone asks for a photo or suggests completing a task, Messages can offer an appropriate action without the user having to manually switch apps.

The delayed Passwords feature is intended to make dealing with compromised credentials easier. Using Apple Intelligence and Safari, the Passwords app will be able to update a compromised password on supported websites and save the replacement credential, reducing the amount of manual work involved.

Apple originally previewed the Passwords improvements as part of its wider expansion of Apple Intelligence at WWDC26. The Apple Post has detailed the wider Siri and Apple Intelligence changes coming with iOS 27, including new capabilities across Messages, Safari, Photos, Shortcuts and other apps.

The company has not given a specific release date for either delayed feature beyond saying they will arrive with a future software update.

That leaves open the possibility of the features arriving with iOS 27.1. The update is already expected ahead of the iPhone Duo launch on October 23, although Apple has not confirmed that either feature will be included.

The change comes just days before iOS 27 reaches iPhone users. Apple has confirmed iOS 27 will be released on Monday, September 14 for iPhone 11 and newer, with Apple Intelligence features requiring supported hardware.

While the two delayed capabilities will be missing at launch, iOS 27 will still introduce a substantial collection of changes across iPhone. The Apple Post has rounded up 27 new features coming to iPhone with iOS 27 ahead of the update’s release.
