Apple could give the Dynamic Island one of its most useful upgrades yet with the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, allowing the interface to display information from three activities at the same time.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says the two Pro models will feature a smaller, upgraded Dynamic Island capable of supporting three simultaneous tasks, compared with the two-task limit on current iPhones. The change could make it easier to keep track of multiple Live Activities without giving up as much display space.
The software change is expected to arrive alongside physical changes that reduce the size of the Dynamic Island itself. Reports have previously suggested Apple is moving some Face ID hardware beneath the display, allowing the visible cutout to shrink while retaining the familiar interface.
Gurman also says Apple has major new camera hardware and software planned for the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, while an upgraded vapor chamber should improve thermal management. Apple introduced vapor chamber cooling to its Pro iPhones with the previous generation, and the latest changes could help the new A20 Pro chip sustain performance for longer under demanding workloads.
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to be unveiled at Apple’s ‘Surprise and shine’ event today alongside the company’s first foldable iPhone and its latest Apple Watch models.
