Apple has announced a new dedicated Siri app in iOS 27, marking one of the biggest changes to the voice assistant since its debut in 2011.
Rumours ahead of WWDC26 suggested Apple was developing a standalone Siri experience similar to ChatGPT, and the company has now officially confirmed those reports.
The new app allows users to start new conversations with Siri AI and revisit previous chats from a single location. Apple says conversation history is securely synced across devices using iCloud, allowing users to begin a conversation on one device and continue it on another.
The dedicated app forms part of Apple’s wider Siri AI overhaul, which brings personal context awareness, onscreen understanding, web-based knowledge, and more advanced app actions. Users can ask Siri to find information from messages, emails, photos, and other apps, as well as answer questions about content currently displayed on screen.
The move addresses one of the biggest limitations of previous versions of Siri, which were primarily designed for short voice commands rather than ongoing conversations. By introducing a dedicated app with persistent chat history, Apple is positioning Siri AI as a more capable assistant that can handle longer, more complex interactions.
The new Siri app will be available as part of Siri AI later this year on supported Apple Intelligence devices.
