Apple has reportedly paused work on the Apple Vision Pro headset, with engineers previously assigned to the project being moved to other areas of the company, including Siri and AI development.
According to a report from MacRumors, Apple has “all but given up” on the current Vision Pro, following weaker-than-expected demand and a lack of momentum after its most recent update.
Apple refreshed the headset in late 2025 with an M5 chip and a more comfortable band, but the changes did little to boost interest. The device has struggled to gain traction since launch, with estimates suggesting relatively low sales compared to Apple’s core products.
Sources cited in the report also claim Vision Pro has seen an unusually high rate of returns, significantly higher than most modern Apple products.
As a result, Apple is said to have halted active development on the current model, with teams being reassigned across the business.
However, it’s not yet clear whether this means Apple is abandoning the Vision platform entirely or simply regrouping ahead of future products. Previous reporting has suggested Apple is working on both a more affordable headset and a next-generation version.
Apple has not commented on the report.
