Apple’s newly announced MacBook Neo does not include a power adapter in the box for customers in the UK and across the European Union.
Apple unveiled the MacBook Neo earlier this week as its newest entry-level Mac. Starting at $599, the laptop features a 13-inch Liquid Retina display, the A18 Pro chip, and up to 16 hours of battery life, positioning it as Apple’s most affordable Mac notebook.
However, customers ordering the MacBook Neo in the UK and EU countries such as Germany, France, Italy, and Spain will not receive a charger in the box. If a power adapter is needed, it must be added separately during checkout or purchased later.
The change is not new for Apple. The company first stopped including power adapters with the iPhone 12 lineup in 2020, citing environmental reasons and the assumption that many customers already owned compatible chargers. Apple later removed chargers from Apple Watch boxes starting with the Apple Watch Series 7 in 2021.
For Macs, the policy is newer. The first Mac to ship without a charger in the UK and EU was the 14-inch MacBook Pro introduced last year.
In other regions, Apple continues to include a charger in the box with the MacBook Neo. In the United States, for example, the laptop ships with Apple’s 20W USB-C Power Adapter, which Apple sells separately for $19.
Pre-orders for the MacBook Neo opened on March 4, with the first deliveries and in-store availability set to begin on March 11.
