The future of Apple Fitness+ remains “under review”, according to the latest comments from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
Gurman did not share specific new details, but the remark follows earlier reporting that Apple is reassessing the direction of its workout subscription amid concerns about performance and engagement.
Previously, Gurman reported that Apple had begun a reorganisation around Fitness+, appointing new vice presidents to take direct responsibility for the service in an effort to improve results.
Despite the scrutiny, Apple is not expected to shut the platform down, with the company said to be aware that doing so would trigger backlash from a loyal user base.
Even so, Fitness+ has reportedly been described internally as Apple’s “weakest digital offering” within its Services division.
Apple Fitness+ costs $9.99 per month or $79.99 per year, and is also included as part of the Apple One Premier bundle.
Launched in 2020, the service offers guided workouts and fitness programmes integrated with Apple Watch metrics, but has struggled to achieve the same visibility and growth as Apple’s other subscription services.
