Apple launches new 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 chip

Apple has announced a new 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by the M5 chip, delivering a major leap in performance, AI capability, and battery life.
The new model introduces Apple’s next-generation M5 processor, featuring a redesigned GPU with a Neural Accelerator in each core. Apple says the chip delivers up to 3.5 times faster AI performance and 1.6 times faster graphicscompared to the previous M4 version, while also offering a faster CPU and higher memory bandwidth for intensive workflows such as local AI processing and 3D rendering.
Battery life has been extended to up to 24 hours, which Apple claims is the longest ever on a Mac notebook. Storage speeds are also improved, with faster SSD performance for importing large media files or exporting video projects.
Available in space black and silver, the new MacBook Pro retains familiar features including the Liquid Retina XDR display, 12MP Center Stage camera, six-speaker sound system, and wide array of ports.
Apple says the new M5 model delivers the same performance whether plugged in or running on battery, and remains compatible with existing accessories and workflows used by professionals and developers.
The 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 is available to pre-order now from $1,599 (U.S.), with in-store availability beginning Wednesday, October 22.
