Apple announces new Apple Vision Pro with M5 chip and Dual Knit Band

Apple has unveiled an updated version of its Apple Vision Pro headset, powered by the new M5 chip for improved performance, display rendering and battery life. The refreshed model also introduces a Dual Knit Band for a more comfortable fit, design based on feedback from users of the original Apple Vision Pro to improve long-term wearability.
The M5 chip delivers a significant jump in speed and efficiency compared to the previous M2 model, enabling faster load times, smoother app performance, and up to 50% quicker AI-powered features. The new chip also brings hardware-accelerated ray tracing for more realistic lighting and shadows in games, sharper text and visuals with 10% more display pixels, and refresh rates of up to 120Hz for reduced motion blur.
Apple says the new battery supports up to two and a half hours of general use, or three hours of video playback on a single charge.
The new Dual Knit Band has been redesigned to improve comfort and balance. Made from 3D-knitted material, it includes upper and lower straps that stretch and breathe, plus a new Fit Dial for finer adjustment. The band will also be sold separately and is compatible with the first-generation Vision Pro.

Apple says there are now more than a million apps available for Vision Pro, including over 3,000 built specifically for visionOS. The company is also expanding its Apple Immersive content, with new films, series, and live NBA games coming soon.

It will be available in mainland China and Singapore from October 17, and launch in South Korea and Taiwan later this year.
