iPhone 17 Pro models rumored to feature smaller Dynamic Island

In a last-minute rumor ahead of Apple’s “Awe Dropping” event on Tuesday, a newly leaked screen protector allegedly for the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max suggests the Dynamic Island cutout may shrink in size. The leak indicates the cutout will measure 1.5 centimeters, down from the current 2 centimeters — a reduction of about 25%.
The leak, shared by X user @that_one_g3 and spotted by MacRumors, contradicts earlier reports from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who said at the start of the year that the Dynamic Island would remain “largely unchanged” in 2025, though he left room for minor revisions.
Apple is expected to announce the full iPhone 17 lineup on September 9, consisting of the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The iPhone 17 Air — anticipated to be the thinnest iPhone ever — is rumored to include a 6.6-inch 120 Hz OLED display, single 48 MP camera, USB-C, Wi-Fi 7, a titanium–aluminum frame, and a compact high-capacity battery.
The Pro models are tipped to deliver higher-end upgrades, including the A19 Pro chip, 12 GB RAM, a refined camera-bar design, 48 MP telephoto lens, 24 MP front camera, vapor-chamber cooling, reverse wireless charging, and a new scratch-resistant display layer.
All iPhone 17 variants are expected to ship with 120 Hz displays, stronger glass, and iOS 26 — introducing both performance and design enhancements. Pre-orders may open on September 12, with general availability beginning September 19.
