New HomePod mini slated to feature new colors, upgraded chip, Apple Intelligence support, and more

Reputable journalist Mark Gurman has outlined what to expect from Apple’s next HomePod mini refresh, suggesting a sizeable upgrade to the company’s smallest smart speaker.
According to Gurman, the new model is expected to gain support for Apple Intelligence and the updated Siri experience, alongside a faster chip to replace the current S5. The update may also include a new ultra-wideband chip, improved audio quality, and a redesigned Wi-Fi/Bluetooth chip for better connectivity.
Apple has also reportedly tested new colors for the upcoming speaker, including a striking red option. The HomePod mini is currently offered in blue, yellow, midnight (black), white, and orange.
Apple is hosting its highly anticipated September event this Tuesday, where the iPhone 17 series and new Apple Watch models are expected to debut. It remains unclear, however, whether the refreshed HomePod mini will be introduced at the same time, or held back for a potential October event focused on iPad and Mac updates.
