Gurman outlines new ‘digital glass design’ coming with iOS 26

With WWDC 2025 just around the corner, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has shared his insights on the upcoming “digital glass” design set to debut on the iPhone. This new look, inspired by visionOS – the operating system powering Apple’s Vision Pro headset – promises a fresh take on Apple’s software aesthetic.
According to Gurman, Apple’s emphasis will be on light and transparency throughout the operating system. The default apps will sport new app icons, though they likely won’t follow the rumored round shape. Instead, expect a more fluid and dynamic design.
Toolbars and tabs are set for a major overhaul, with a focus on more intuitive pop-out menus. Home Screen widgets will receive a facelift to align with the visionOS-inspired look, while Safari’s address bar will take on a more transparent, glassy appearance. Even the Camera app will get a minimalist redesign, streamlining the user experience.
