Apple debuts Sound Therapy collection on Apple Music

Apple has unveiled Sound Therapy, a new audio wellness collection created in collaboration with Universal Music Group (UMG), available exclusively on Apple Music. Designed to promote focus, relaxation, and better sleep, the collection blends popular songs with scientifically backed sound enhancements.
According to Apple, Sound Therapy integrates music listeners already know and love with specialized sound waves and psychoacoustic elements, while preserving the integrity of each artist’s original vision. The project is powered by UMG’s proprietary audio technology and grounded in cognitive science, aiming to improve mental well-being through the therapeutic power of sound.
The collection is divided into three categories — Focus, Relax, and Sleep — each tailored to specific mental states and goals. Songs are enhanced using auditory beats and ambient noise to encourage distinct neurological responses:
- Focus tracks incorporate gamma waves and white noise — a full-spectrum frequency blend — to help sharpen attention and reduce distractions. The result is music optimized for productivity and concentration.
- Relax selections feature theta waves, known for their calming effect, helping listeners unwind and release stress.
- Sleep compositions include delta waves and pink noise — a softer, more natural-sounding variant of white noise reminiscent of rain or wind — intended to support deeper, more restful sleep.
Apple describes Sound Therapy as part of its broader commitment to health and wellness, offering subscribers a new way to integrate science-based audio tools into their daily routines.
